The mission of Classroom 102, the department's student-run art space, is to provide a platform for students to present work, practice curatorial strategies, and learn how to produce and install exhibitions.
All students have the opportunity to participate in the Classroom 102 Committee. Students from a range of disciplines and stages of study—graduate and undergraduate, majors and non-majors, Fine Arts and Art History—collaborate with one another and faculty members to present shows throughout the year. In conjunction with collaborative shows, the department publishes catalogues designed and written by students. Each May, all undergraduate and graduate students have an opportunity to enter the department's Annual Student Awards Exhibition, which is selected by artists and curators outside the University community. Prizes totaling over $7,000 are awarded through this exhibition.
